Welcome to the new member of our family

Throughout the years, people have often asked us why we do not own a 3D printer presumably because these are marketed as an essential tool in product development. The truth is that we have been using 3D printed prototypes throughout the last decade, but having a printer at the office has never made any sense. Why? Because of the fact that the span in the products we develop in collaboration with our clients, demands different material properties in prototypes. Until now that would have meant that we would have to buy +3 different 3D printers in order to facilitate the technical demands, and that was just not feasible – until now.

With our latest addition to our prototype workshop, the Form 2, we can manufacture agile mock-ups, functional prototypes, sturdy fixtures, and beautiful models faster and more cost-friendly than ever before; beneficial to both our clients and us.

The Form 2 utilizes a proven additive manufacturing technology called stereolithography or SLA. The SLA technology employs a vat of liquid ultraviolet curable photopolymer “resin” and an ultraviolet laser to build parts’ layers one at a time. For each layer, the laser beam traces a cross-section of the part pattern on the surface of the liquid resin. Exposure to the ultraviolet laser light cures and solidifies the pattern traced on the resin and joins it to the layer below. Complex geometries and cavities that would otherwise be problematic become practical with the SLA technology.
